Question by Anonymous: What are the main differences between Psychologies and Psychology Today? (magazines)?
Just trying to work out which is better suited for me. I am aiming toward a career in psychology and just want to do some background reading while I am still studying.

I don’t usually read these magazines, but went on to the websites to look. If you’re going to be studying psychology, my initial impression is that Psychology Today has more content, covers wider areas and is a bit more “scientific.” What I mean by that is that you don’t want some magazine with a bunch of articles and “tests” that don’t have any scientific basis. You want a magazine that STARTS with looking at what kind of research is being done, then “translates” it for the public in an interesting way. I’m not saying that Psychology Today always does this, but it looks like it might more than “Psychologies.” In general, you should always look to see if the articles cite research, because psychology as a field is based on a scientific foundation, regardless of what other kinds of “scientists” might think.
