“Some things should just be done for the fun of it. Not because they’re inexpensive, practical, organic, logical, fashionable, modest, brilliant, green, expected, proper, spiritual, thinning, fattening, prudent, or allergen-smoke-chemical free.” ~ Mike Dooley

“The truth is, we hide because we want to be found. We walk away to see who will follow. We fall to see who will come pick us up. We cry to see who will wipe away our tears and we let our hearts get broken to see who will come and fix them. Fate determines who walks into your life; you determine who you let walk out, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let go.” ~ Unknown

“Consider how hard it is to change yourself and you’ll understand what little chance you have in trying to change others. ” ~ Jacob Braude

Why people read Psychology Today???

Question by : Why people read Psychology Today???

Best answer:

Answer by SSudsy
I am personally still on the fence about this publication. It brings to the table psychology theory in subjects that the everyday person finds interesting in glossy magazines about friendship, love, sex, relationships. Some headlines I have seen that are very eye catching “You CAN change your personality!”; “Handling rejection”; Why he is just not that into you”. It is written in everyday language, so it appeals to a wide market sector. So, all in all, it is not too bad, and if it helps educate the public about psychology, all the better.

Do you read self-help books?

Question by No Shortage: Do you read self-help books?
I bought one on Amazon a couple months ago because I thought it would help me improve myself and therefore my life. I sat down to read it tonight and gave up. What a downer. 100 pages of everything that is wrong me and 200 more pages of all the things I need to do to fix myself. I have decided to just let myself be human and enjoy my life a little more. What about you?
The Bible as a self-help book? You are so right.

Question by Stefan: Which book or author could you recommend me to read next?
I just finished “The road less traveled” by Scott Peck and I have read “The seven habits of highly effective people” by Stephen Covey. Both were a very good reading material for me and I can say I started building my wisdom around them. So which author or book would be the logical step?

Question by midnightlife: how can you still be an atheist if you’ve read Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude by Napoleon Hill?
first and foremost, it’s a self-help book, not a christian book but hill and w. stone still talk about how God can help give you a PMA (positive mental attitude). it’s a classic book to indirectly make you a christian.

What are good books to read for a teenage girl?

Question by autumn: What are good books to read for a teenage girl?
I’m really into those sappy teen romance books. Not twilight or any fantasy. I really like Sarah Dessen, have read all of her books. I also recently read, and really enjoyed, thirteen reasons why by jay asher and Not That Kind of Girl by Siobhan Vivian.

Answer by Charlotte Jesse
A Certain Slant of Light by Laura Whitcomb was a good read for me. I would also suggest Deadly Little Secret and Deadly Little Lies by Laura Faria Stolarz. Also by her, which I have yet to read, Deadly Little Games. (;

Is it important to read all books in a series?

Question by hideko: Is it important to read all books in a series?
I don’t necessarily mean a series like Harry Potter. I’m referring to books in a series of romance novels for example. I picked up a book that is #5 in the series, but the stories (according to reviews) don’t seem to connect to previous books in the series. Other than the use of the same last name for characters. What is this about? Can someone explain how these series work?

Best answer:

Answer by nickipettis
that kind of series does not need to be read in order.
you might understand a little more about the background or families involved, but you will get all the critical plot, no matter how out of order your reading is.
