I used to think that “healing” was a destination. Like there was some magic line in the sand where I'd cross over, and suddenly the old ghosts would just… stop haunting me. I spent years trying to “solve” my pain like it was a broken toaster.

When someone loses a limb, everyone knows they won't grow another to replace it. Learning to live with this reality is challenging, of course, but there's no emotional energy wasted on waiting, hoping, trying to grow a new one.

That hit me hard. Because the pressure to “get over it” is actually just another way of telling us that we're still broken. It turns your life into a project and your pain into a failure of willpower.

Toxic positivity is the undue emphasis on maintaining a positive mindset and suppressing or denying any negative emotions or experiences. It can be harmful because it invalidates the very real and natural human emotions like sadness, anger, or frustration.
