30 Ways To Stop Self-Sabotaging Your Life

I know you do not want to hear this but…
The only one stopping you from being successful is YOU!
Doesn’t it seem like all of the bad things you “thought” would happen … seem to happen?  That even though you say you want to be happy you keep getting further and further away from it?
Luckily Marc had put together a list of the “30 things to stop doing to yourself” that should hopefully act as a wake-up call for you and you can begin to totally turn your life around TODAY!
I am rooting for you.

When you stop chasing the wrong things you givethe right things a chance to catch you.

1. Stop spending time with the wrong people. – Life is too short to spend time with people who suck the happiness out of you.  If someone wants you in their life, they’ll make room for you.  You shouldn’t have to fight for a spot.  Never, ever insist yourself to someone who continuously overlooks your worth.  And remember, it’s not the people that stand by your side when you’re at your best, but the ones who stand beside you when you’re at your worst that are your true friends.

This is one of my favorites and I am glad that this is number one!  I am sure you have heard many of the similar phases like “you are what you eat” or “you become what you think about” or “you are who you hang out with”.
I test you to take a good look at the people you have in your life and ask yourself … do they add value to your everyday experiences or seem to drain the life out of it?  For most people the answer to this is obvious.
You know who you are.  You know you have a family member that makes you wish you were adopted. Yet, you find yourself in their company more often than not.

4. Stop putting your own needs on the back burner. – The most painful thing is losing yourself in the process of loving someone too much, and forgetting that you are special too.  Yes, help others; but help yourself too.  If there was ever a moment to follow your passion and do something that matters to you, that moment is now.

This is especially true for parents and married people.  For some reason we have it in our head that we need to feel bad if we do ANYTHING for ourselves when we have a family.  We have learned all the way back to grade school that being “selfish” is bad.
This really burns me up!
Let me ask you when was the last time you actually did something for yourself?  Do you even still remember who you are?  The problem with putting everybody else first is that you eventually lose who you are.
Remember when you get on an airplane and they tell you “In case of cabin pressure loss there will be masks that drop down from the sky.  It is very important that you put your own mask on first before trying to help other put theirs on.”
How long can you go helping everyone else breathe before you eventually collapse?
Learn to take care of yourself!  Study this list and begin today to stop self-sabotaging your life!

Wobbly Chairs May Be Affecting Your Relationship

If you want a more stable relationship it may be in your best interest to purchase more stable furniture.  As crazy as that may sound it is quite interesting.  It actually makes sense!

A study finds that unstable furniture can influence how we feel about our relationships. Christie Nicholson reports
A wobbly chair is more than just annoying. Believe it or not, it can influence your values, or beliefs about others.
Past studies have shown a link between physical objects and our emotions. Carry a cold drink at a party and you’re likely to consider other guests cold and offputting. Hold a warm drink, and you tend to perceive those same people as warm and welcoming.
Subjects in wobbly chairs judged the celebs to be more likely to break apart, while those who sat on a solid chair felt the celebrity relationships were also solid and more likely to remain intact. The study is in the journal Psychological Science.

I certainly hope no one out there still has a waterbed!!!!

Why "busyness" is not productivity

Are you being productive of just filling up your day with busy work?

A Business Roundtable study found that after just eight 60-hour weeks the fall-off in productivity is so marked that the average team would have actually gotten just as much done and been better off if they’d just stuck to a 40-hour week all along. And at 70-or 80- hour weeks, the fall-off happens ever aster; at 80 hours, the break-even point is reached in just three weeks. Studies on this subject conducted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics , U.S. Department of Labor, Proctor and Gamble Company, , the National Electrical Contractors Association, and the Mechanical Contractors Association of American produced similar results. All of them showed that continuing scheduled overtime has a strong negative effect on productivity, which increases in magnitude proportionate to the amount and duration of overtime.

18 Experts’ Advice on How To Be More, Do More & Have More

Awesome round-up from some of the most inspiring people on the web right now.  Pay attention and take notes.

Take time to pause, and reflect. Make this a daily habit, and use this time to consider whether you’re adding too much into your life. Often we add things thinking we can handle it, but in reality a new commitment or project means a lot of time and effort, and less time for other things that might be important. So things like family, friends, health, creativity and solitude get pushed back as we add new commitments. Simply pause, and consider whether simplifying wouldn’t be a better route.

  • The sun benefits us in a number of ways. The sun delivers heat, raising core body temperature. Higher core body temperatures facilitate increased cell function and higher energy. This increases our detoxification and purification systems. Sun also regulates our natural biorhythm cycles. Boosted core temperatures increase cortisol levels during the day, ushering more relaxation and deeper sleep during the night.

Having a Love/Hate Relationship with Love and Relationships

Love hate relationship

I don’t know if you have ever been in love before but it is one of the best things in life you will ever hate!
It will take you to extreme highs …. yet is has the power to take you lower than you ever thought possible.
After having her heart crushed during her childhood, Sandy Weis received these words of wisdom from her mother…
“It is a wonderful thing to love and to go for it with all your heart and soul, sweetheart, even when you don’t feel strong enough to. Don’t lose that. To let yourself fall in love completely regardless of what might happen is something that is very precious.”
And then she told me of a quote, “Have enough courage to trust love one more time and always one more time. –Maya Angelou”.
