The Profit in the Piles

The Profit in the Piles

I found something today that perfectly illustrates why I stopped chasing the ‘big app idea’ and started looking at the dirt. Specifically, the dirt that most people pay to get rid of.

“Residue into Revenue Instead of leaving agricultural waste in the field to rot, you can turn it into a valuable product that also generates carbon removal credits.”

Planboo

This is what I mean by an ‘Invisible Gap.’ While the rest of the world is fighting over the same three saturated markets, there are people turning biomass into biochar and selling carbon removal credits. They’ve turned a liability (waste) into a dual asset (soil fertility + cash).

“notably, adding these materials to ruminant diets results in 10%–30% reductions in feed costs and improvements of 5%–20% in key performance metrics, such as weight gain and milk production.”

PMC

This isn’t about ‘saving the planet’—though that’s a nice side effect. This is pure logistical arbitrage. You aren’t inventing a new way to raise livestock; you’re just finding a cheaper way to feed them by moving waste from a farm to a trough. That 30% reduction in feed costs is the difference between a struggling operation and a cash machine.

If you’re still wondering how to break out of the grind, stop looking for a ‘breakthrough.’ Start looking for the waste. It’s all about Finding The Gap.

Stop wondering. Start deciding. ✍️
